This Vosges-born chef is the youngest in a family of seven children. He loved spending time in the kitchen with his mother, preparing food for the family. She was an excellent cook, and taught him the basics of cookery. Coming from a simple family background, he loved to make feasts for his entire family even at the tender age of seven!


After earning his stripes at a series of France’s Michelin-starred tables, he developed a keen interest in healthy eating and well-being. He received his first Michelin star as a chef at the Grand Hôtel de Saint-Jean-de-Luz, then moved to the Sofitel Miramar in Biarritz where he led the kitchen as chef for more than 13 years before launching the consulting firm DE2C (Demangel Equilibre Conseil Cuisine).


Patrice is the author of Légères gourmandises : La cuisine minceur au fil des saisons, which contains 25 light healthy-eating recipes for each season.


“Cooking is much more than just recipes”, says Alain Chapel.
